Martin Mull RIP

No one lives forever -- except, perhaps, Shirley MacLaine. This is where we ring down the final curtain for Filmdom's finest.

Martin Mull RIP

Oh great, another one of the truly funny people gone.

Though I'm sure he made much more money as an actor, we lost a great stand-up (or sit-down ) comic and writer of comedy songs. If you can find his great albums from the 1970's, which most were unfortunately released on Casablanca Records, a company that bellied up quick and little has been reissued, they are a delight.

Here's a look at him as a musical performer, a concert from the PBS musical show SOUNDSTAGE in 1975:

He and Fred Willard were also great on FERNWOOD/AMERICA TONIGHT:

I got to meet him backstage after he did a concert at the University of Arizona, he was exhausted, but he was also friendly and cordial, and happy to talk to fans. For someone who could throw off a great sarcastic quip with the best of them, he came off as a nice person.

Rest in Peace Martin.
