A RAG DOLL ROMANCE (1922) Campbell Comedy

Educational Pictures ' Campbell Comedies are hard to come by today ( I only have two in my collection), they were basically the replacement for their popular (yep, they really were popular) Chester Comedies starring Snooky the Humanzee (Campbell had directed those, they kept him and lost the chimp). Here's a chunk of one, released April 2, 1922, featuring Laurence Licalzi, Doreen Turner, and special guest Jack Cooper:

Both the Campbell and Chester Comedies predate and influence Hal Roach's Our Gang Comedies much more than either Roach or most historians liked to admit, their success had to have not been lost on Roach when he developed his own "Kids n' Animals" series in 1922.
